North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble: Good Vibrations

$25/$20/$15

Good Vibrations is not your average youth dance ensemble; in fact it is not your average dance company at all. The company presents an incredibly unique performance, featuring cutting edge contemporary choreography and traditional rhythm tap as it was danced in its prime. Imagine Stomp, Riverdance, Vaudeville, Fred Astaire and Bring In Da Noise all on the same bill – that’s Good Vibrations! The style of percussive dances ranges from South African Gumboot, to sand dancing, to buck, to a salute to vaudeville, body percussion, jazz, and much more. The music ranges from Blind Boy Fuller to Brubeck to Mozart. This nonstop percussive dance review is a trip through time and into the future of this unique American art form.

Here's an overview of 'Taylor 2'

Paul Taylor, the creator of Taylor 2, is the last living member of the pantheon that created America’s indigenous art of modern dance. At an age when most artists’ best work is behind them, Mr. Taylor has continued to win acclaim for the vibrancy, relevance and power of his recent creations as well as his classics. As prolific as ever, he continues to offer cogent observations on life’s complexities while tackling some of society’s thorniest issues. He may propel his dancers through space for the sheer beauty of it, or use them to wordlessly illuminate war, spirituality, sexuality, morality and mortality. If, as Balanchine said, there are no mothers-in-law in ballet, there certainly are dysfunctional families, disillusioned idealists, imperfect religious leaders, angels and insects in Taylor dance.

The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 when legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet Sergei Radchenko sought to realize his vision of a company which would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company within the framework of Russian classic ballet.

Leading dancers from across the Russias have forged under Radchenko’s direction an exciting new company staging new productions of timeless classics such as Giselle, Don Quixote, Paquita and Carmen. From their repertoire, The Moscow Festival Ballet will perform Chopiniana / Romeo & Juliet.
